There's a multimillion dollar industry out there pushing trinkets of all shapes and sorts that do a variety of things... cure cancer, solve the national debt problem, achieve world peace, cure erectile dysfunction... and yes, give you the tone of your dreams. And if you have the cash in your mattress you can buy the gear that will make you the next Guitar Hero...
If you have the scratch to afford everything you want, then this isn't a problem. But the rest of us have jobs [even more don't], families, and more bills than cash. As much as we would love to have boutique gear or a top of the line guitar, who can afford it?
Not to worry... Keep in mind the next time you're drooling over that piece of gear singing sweetly to your tone monster... take a step back and keep your money in your pocket. With a little creative ingenuity and research you'll be able to find that sound with a lot less cash.
